What is the difference between the switches and what do the letters mean?

  • 10SC-CIM (Cast Iron, Manual) pump.

  • Manual: Pump turns on when it gets plugged in.

  • 10SC-CIA-SFS (Cast Iron Automatic, Snap action Float Switch).

  • Snap action: Pump turn on when the vertical side float activates the switch.

  • 10SC-CIA-RF (Cast Iron Automatic, Remote Float).

  • Piggyback Mechanical Float: Pump cord plugs into the back of the switch cord. When the ball attached to the cord reaches the on-level, the pump tuns on.

Is the 10SC a grinder pump?

  • It is not considered a grinder pump.

How far horizontally can it pump?

  • This is dependent on the application. Please refer to the friction loss chart in the catalog.

My pump hums and the impeller won’t spin.

  • Clean the area. If no progress, replace the pump.

Why does it spit water from the side?

  • There is an air bleed hole on the side; this is in place to prevent air lock.
